Vasco have spent more than 100 days searching for a main shirt sponsor, yet the club’s prime jersey space remains vacant after stalled talks, mostly with betting companies.

According to Globo.com, Betfair’s deal ended at the end of December amid a softer advertising market. There are six Série A sides without a main sponsor, including Vasco, Coritiba, Grêmio, Internacional and Bahia.

Vasco were unhappy with Betfair’s offer and aimed to match the country’s biggest partnerships, such as Flamengo, Corinthians and Palmeiras, mirroring their agreement with kit supplier Nike. Betfair, now represented by Betnacional, did not significantly raise its bid and exited.

Since then the club have held talks with other betting brands but walked away from two after warnings about possible non-payment. They also negotiated with H2Bet, whose offer was rejected as too low.

With little progress elsewhere, the club reopened contact with a betting company, which did not resume talks because it had already struck a deal with Atlético-MG. Vasco have also explored non-betting options, including a major car manufacturer, but that discussion stalled.

The delay has caused unease at São Januário, with Pedrinho’s board pressing the SAF executives to secure a partner. Even so, income from Rayan’s sale, last season’s prize money and broadcast revenues are seen as easing immediate financial pressure.
