According to Globo.com, Puma Rodríguez and Paulo Henrique were Vasco’s poorest performers in the Carioca semi-final first leg against Fluminense.

Fluminense went ahead from a rehearsed corner finished by Serna. Bernal was later sent off, yet even with a man advantage Vasco could not turn the tide.

Goalkeeper Léo Jardim impressed with a late stop from Arana, while Johan Rojas grew into the game and became Vasco’s chief threat. Robert Renan stood out for a key interception to halt a two-on-one.

Puma Rodríguez, filling in at left-back, regularly cut inside onto his right and was often dispossessed. Paulo Henrique endured an error-strewn night and offered little in attack before being withdrawn. Tchê Tchê was caught out at the corner that led to the goal and added little creatively.

Spinelli lost Serna at the set piece and was largely nullified. Andrés Gómez remained Vasco’s most dangerous forward but was tightly marshalled, frequently facing double pressure. Marino Hinestroza injected pace but his crosses consistently failed to find targets.

Nuno Moreira was peripheral and replaced early, while Barros tracked Lucho Acosta but was exposed by balls in behind. Brenner arrived after Bernal’s dismissal and barely touched the ball. Adson drew the red card after deflecting a Freytes shot, sparking a break before he was fouled.

Coach Fernando Diniz received a low mark, amid criticism of a blunt attack in 2026. Vasco were poorer before the interval, and with an extra man later they resorted to hopeful crosses into the box.
