Rayan and Coutinho led the way as Vasco beat Maricá in the Carioca, while Piton endured a torrid opener that ended in a red card.
According to Globo.com, the pair topped the ratings, and Fernando Diniz’s side again mixed creativity with vulnerability at set pieces and when defending a high line.
Andrés Gómez won the ball and forced a save, and Rayan converted the rebound to open the scoring. Piton was later dismissed after losing possession then pulling back his opponent, and Vasco played 45 minutes with one fewer.
Coutinho curled in a trademark finish. He then slid a pass for Rayan to add the third, and his corner delivered the fourth.
Maricá scored from a corner, Marcelo on target after Paulo Henrique’s poor backpass had conceded the set piece. Carlos Cuesta also found the net for Vasco but was at fault on Marcelo’s goal. Nuno Moreira knitted attacks and created a chance for Piton before being withdrawn at half-time to rebalance the defence.
