Vasco top a worrying negative ranking in the Série A of the Brasileirão

The phrase by coach Fernando Diniz that "football is a game of error" has never applied so well to the Giant of the Hill as in the current season. A survey by Statistical Spy, from the ge portal, revealed an alarming fact. The Cross-Maltino is the team that has conceded the most goals from individual mistakes in the entire A Series of the Brazilian Championship.

Club leads the negative ranking of the A Series

The numbers are an accurate diagnosis of the team's inconsistency. In total, there have already been nine goals conceded that were directly born from individual errors of their players. The number puts the Giant of the Hill in the isolated leadership of this negative ranking. For comparison, the second place, Fluminense, conceded six goals in this way, while the leader Flamengo only conceded one.

The survey only considers clear technical failures, excluding penalties, own goals, or expulsions.

The impact of these errors on the Cross-Maltino's campaign is devastating. Of the nine mistakes, eight happened in games that the team failed to win. The analysis indicates that at least nine points were wasted in matches where the errors were decisive, such as in the draws against International and Ceará, and in the loss to Mirassol. Without these blunders, the club's position in the table would be much more comfortable.

Coach admits the errors, but shares the responsibility

After the draw with Ceará, where the two decisive mistakes occurred, Diniz admitted the problem. He stated:

"Today we made mistakes that we usually don't make."

However, the coach emphasized that the decision on the field is always the player's.

"The play with PH, he could have kicked the ball and he didn't. It was his choice", he analyzed, making it clear that, although football is a "game of error", the repetition of these mistakes has cost a lot.
