The transfer window is over, but Serie A clubs can still sign free agents and Venezia have not yet made a final decision on deeply troubled Wissam Ben Yedder.

The Lagunari revamped their squad during the mid-season transfer session and tried to strengthen their attack, especially after selling fan favourite Joel Pohjanpalo to Palermo.

Although Ben Yedder had been linked in the final hours of the window, he can still complete the move to Venezia because he is a free agent.

The 34-year-old, who AS Monaco paid €40m to purchase from Sevilla in the summer of 2019, has been out of contract since July 2024.

This is partly because he received a suspended sentence of two years for sexual assault and went into treatment for alcohol misuse, then was also facing similar charges in a different incident as well as allegations from his wife.

According to Calciomercato.com, Venezia are still open to giving Ben Yedder another chance in Serie A.

“We are reflecting on the situation and will evaluate over the next few days whether it can be considered an opportunity,” said director of sport Antonelli.
