At a time when Real Madrid are struggling to find consistency, Brahim Diaz has stepped forward with a performance that demands attention.
The return of Kylian Mbappe was always expected to reduce Brahim’s role, pushing him towards the fringes of the starting XI.
Yet, instead of fading into the background, the Moroccan international responded with intent against Girona.
Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw may have felt like a missed opportunity, but Brahim stood out as one of the few players capable of unlocking Girona’s defensive structure.
Operating fluidly between roles, he linked play effectively and constantly looked to create danger.
His most telling contribution came in the build-up to the goal.
It was Brahim who provided the decisive pass that allowed Federico Valverde to score, registering his seventh assist of the season.
It was also a symbolic moment, marking his 100th La Liga appearance in a Real Madrid shirt.
As such, this performance did not come out of nowhere.
After starting just four matches across a lengthy stretch in the season, Brahim has now featured regularly, starting six consecutive games in less than a month.
That rhythm is beginning to show in his football. Against Girona, he was sharp, proactive, and constantly involved in attacking sequences.

He created seven chances, more than any other player on the pitch. The next closest were Valverde and Vinicius Jr. with just three each, highlighting the gap in creative output.
He also delivered six crosses, the highest in the match, alongside completing one successful dribble, winning four fouls, and making 22 passes in the final third, second only to Vinicius, who managed 25.
Brahim’s versatility continues to be one of his biggest strengths.
Whether deployed as a false nine, an attacking midfielder, or drifting wide, he finds ways to influence the game.
With Mbappe back, his role may shift again, but what this performance proved is that he does not need to be a guaranteed starter to make an impact.
Instead, he is evolving into a reliable option who can change the tempo of a match.
What made Brahim’s display even more complete was his defensive contribution.
He recovered possession twice, won seven duels, and completed every tackle he attempted.
In a game where Real Madrid lacked intensity at times, his work rate stood out. He combined aggression with intelligence, offering balance to a side that often looked disjointed.
Now, with a crucial Champions League clash against Bayern Munich approaching, Brahim has done everything possible to put himself in contention.
Whether he starts or is used from the bench, he has shown that he can be a difference-maker.
