Victor Lindelöf marked the start of Sweden’s World Cup camp with a generous gesture to his team-mates. The Aston Villa defender treated the squad to breakfast, then handed out instant cameras and Nintendo Switch consoles.
According to Glorioso 1904, the gifts were widely interpreted as a celebration of Villa’s recent Europa League triumph. The moment of team bonding quickly caught the eye of Swedish fans and international media.
Lindelöf, twice a league winner with Benfica in 2016 and 2017, again found himself in the spotlight for reasons away from the pitch. He was an important figure during his spell there.
He joined Aston Villa last summer after several years at Manchester United. He has already made dozens of Premier League appearances for the Birmingham club.
It also shone a light back on his Benfica roots.
