Sammy produced a good performance as the Super Eagles came away with a 1-0 win following Dele-Bashiru’s 86th-minute finish. Thanks to these three points, Nigeria remain top of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group with seven points from three matches.

Meanwhile, Tijjani Reijnders’ Netherlands came away with a draw at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on matchday 3 in Group A3 of the UEFA Nations League. Dumfries’ 83rd-minute header cancelled out Sallai’s 32nd-minute opener for the hosts in what was a tough match for the Oranje, who were reduced to ten men following Van Dijk’s sending-off in the 78th minute. This is how the table now looks: Germany 7, Netherlands 5, Hungary 2, Bosnia 1. Tijj, who threatened on several occasions (especially in the first half), played the full 90 minutes.
