Liverpool striker Alexander Isak is continuing to struggle to hit the kind of form that made him the Premier League’s most expensive signing ever when he joined from Newcastle United this summer.

Isak cost a British transfer record fee of £125m, as reported by BBC Sport at the time, and few were questioning that at the time after his world class performances at Newcastle.

Still, it’s been a poor start to this season for the Sweden international, who only has one goal for Liverpool so far, while he’s on a run of no goals in his last five games, potentially six if he can’t find the back of the net today.

Can Liverpool find a way back against Manchester United?

Liverpool went behind in the first minute of the game as Bryan Mbeumo fired in past Giorgi Mamardashvili, but it’s been a pretty even game since then.

The visitors have had chances to extend their lead, but the home side have also come back well and had a penalty shout at one point, though it was turned away.

Cody Gakpo hit the post and Isak missed this chance, so it’s vital that the LFC forwards put their finishing boots on for the second half or they’re facing a fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions.

United will not have been the favourites before this game, but they’ve done a decent job so far and may well be confident of holding on for all three points.
