Chelsea won against Brentford on Saturday without playing well, and on the London is Blue podcast they noted that Cole Palmer hadn’t celebrated despite scoring a penalty:
“The goal celebration was a little weird, I was hoping for a little bit of ‘Ice Cold Palmer’ in the cold weather,” host Dan Dormer said.

His co-host Nick Verlaney was on hand to explain it all:
“Cole got bullied, on more than one occasion. He got kicked. He was being pushed around. There were huge fouls committed across the pitch, by both teams. I think he was probably just frustrated, he’s trying to be the man that everyone thinks he’s going to be, especially with the World Cup on the horizon now in the next 6 months.
“It’s a lot of pressure for him, I think, and you could start to see it getting to him today. I really hope he can get to a place where he’s enjoying his football, it hasn’t looked enjoyable for him in the last month since he got back from injury.”
We couldn’t agree more, and it’s definitely the reason he didn’t celebrate his penalty. He knows he’s miles off his best level, and he’s not really in the mood to go crazy over scoring a penalty when he knows he’s struggling. The pressure is immense, and he can feel his World Cup chances slipping away game by game.
Just like these guys, we really hope we see him playing well and smiling again soon.

Chelsea are looking to sign a defender this month, but they allowed their former academy player Marc Guehi to go to Man City without even trying to compete on that deal. Simon Johnson has explained why.
On the other end of the deal, it seems like the Jacquet move has been dreamt up for some time. Despite not signing a defender in the summer, Chelsea left the door open for it to happen this month.
