Jadon Sancho has broken his silence on his imminent return to Manchester United after confirmation that Chelsea will not sign him permanently.

Earlier on Tuesday, David Ornstein of The Athletic revealed that Chelsea have decided not to exercise a £25million obligation to buy Sancho, after his season-long stay at Stamford Bridge.

Instead, the Blues will pay United a £5million penalty fee to break the arrangement that was struck last summer.

Ornstein revealed that Chelsea could not find middle ground with Sancho over personal terms and so, they elected to move on from the England international.

This was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano who wrote on X, “Main issue for Jadon Sancho was salary as Chelsea didn’t want to match his current salary at Manchester United.”

“After negotiations, deal off and Sancho back to United from end of June… ready for new move.”

Sancho endured a mixed season with Chelsea, though, truthfully, it leaned more toward the disappointing side.

He scored five times for Chelsea, including in last month’s Conference League final win over Antony and Real Betis. Sancho also contributed 10 assists across all competitions.

Sancho has now taken to social media and posted a farewell message to Chelsea and the club’s supporters.

Alongside a video of his highlights at the London club, Sancho wrote, “Grateful for the experience.”

“Big love to everyone at Chelsea who made me feel at home — teammates, staff and the fans. Wishing the club all the best moving forward. Truly grateful, Thank you Blues.”

The 25-year-old has one year left on his United contract, which is believed to be worth up to £300,000 a week.
