Watch as Luka Modric scores the first goal of his AC Milan career, just days after celebrating his 40th birthday, at San Siro against Bologna.

The Croatia international had started the move from his own half by sending Ruben Loftus-Cheek forward, who spread it down the right for Alexis Saelemaekers.

When the Belgian spotted the Modric run to follow the action, he rolled it across for the veteran to finish off with the inside of the right boot from just inside the penalty area.

It allowed Milan to break the deadlock in what had been an increasingly tense Serie A encounter with Bologna.

The former Real Madrid hero had been a fan of the Rossoneri since childhood, when he watched his Croatian heroes like Zvonimir Boban represent the club.

This goal also allowed him to make history as the oldest midfielder to score in Serie A for Milan, aged 40 years and five days.

The previous holder for this particular role was Nils Liedholm, aged 38 years and 169 days when he found the net against Inter in March 1961.

However, he is only the sixth oldest player overall to score in Serie A history.
