Egypt earned deserved equaliser through Omar Marmoush as the Pharaohs drew level with Cape Verde in their third place playoff match at the Al Ain International Tournament in the UAE, part of their build up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The match played at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, kicked off at 4 PM GMT and features two side fine tuning their squads ahead of crucial AFCON year.
Cape Verde opened the scoring after the referee awarded penalty against Mohamed Hany, which Garry Rodrigues converted confidently to give the Blue Sharks 1-0 lead.
Egypt responded strongly after the break and the pressure paid off in the 55th minute. A clever through ball from Mohamed Hamdy split the defence sending Omar Marmoush clean through on goal.
The Manchester City forward kept his composure rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home to make it 1-1.
