Serie A legend Christian Vieri goes ‘against logic’ and claims Inter are favourites to win the Serie A title this season, although the Nerazzurri should have signed Ademola Lookman.
The 2025-26 Serie A campaign begins today, and Vieri previewed the Serie A title race in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’m going against logic, Napoli are the defending champions and, in theory, they should be the team to beat, but today, even before completing the transfer market, the deepest squad in Serie A is still Inter,” said the ex-striker.
“All the players who, four months ago, beat Barcelona on an incredible night are still there. Okay, there was that Final, but the 5-0 loss doesn’t erase the group’s value.”
The Nerazzurri have signed Andy Diouf in central midfield, but had been chasing Ademola Lookman for several weeks.
“Lookman is devastating. I would have tried to sign him until the very end because he’s one of the strongest players in Europe and would have made the team even stronger,” Vieri said.
Two other big signings are the experienced Kevin De Bruyne (Napoli) and Luka Modric (Milan.
“They are endless class and experience, and also media appeal because everyone wants to see them, a sign that Serie A matters more and more,” Vieri said.

“De Bruyne left Guardiola for Conte, which is a significant choice. With Antonio, you work twice or three times as hard, which means putting yourself back on the line at over 30 years of age.
“As for Modric, I asked my friend Bernardo Corradi, who is part of Allegri’s staff. He told me that the first balls he touched in training were all no-look passes with the outside of the foot. Unbelievable. With him, Milan pulled off a huge coup because at this level, age doesn’t matter.”
Juventus don’t seem to start in the first row for the Scudetto, and Vieri has a transfer tip for the Old Lady as well.
“First of all, they should re-sign Kolo Muani; it would be a hugely important move to stay at the top and forget last season’s disaster,” he said.
“In America, I saw a good Juventus, aggressive, a sign that they were right to confirm Tudor. The squad still needs improving and then there’s the Vlahovic issue. It’s unclear whether he’s staying or not, so much will depend on Jonathan David’s performances; he’s a top striker.”
Juventus begin the 2025-26 Serie A campaign at home against Parma on August 24.
Napoli and Milan play today, Saturday, August 23, against Sassuolo and Cremonese, respectively, while Inter will take to the pitch on Monday night, hosting Torino at San Siro.
