Villarreal have extended Pau Navarro’s contract until June 2031, adding one year to the previous 2030 agreement. The move reinforces faith in a key homegrown defender.
Navarro, 21, has progressed from academy prospect to first team regular. He made 46 senior appearances last season and secured a starting role. Villarreal then finished third in LaLiga after a strong run-in.
The renewal sits within the club’s Building the Future theme, linking player continuity with ongoing works at Estadio de la Cerámica and the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza. An accompanying video piece was shared on the club’s social channels.
Navarro is delighted to stay where he feels at home and is proud to face the Champions League with Villarreal. He views the deal as a reward for last season yet believes he can still improve.
He accepts any negotiation brings points to resolve, but both parties wanted the same outcome. The defender from Castellón has been at Villarreal for about 13 years, arriving aged eight or nine, and says he has always felt valued.
Looking ahead, he set measured aims, to do as well as possible in LaLiga and the Champions League and to improve slightly in the Copa. Early work with new coach Iñigo Pérez is a first contact, and the quick, positive style seen at Rayo Vallecano should fit the squad.
