Villarreal make contact over deal for Real Madrid star | OneFootball

The brass at Villarreal have made first contacts regarding a potential deal for a member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga rivals Real Madrid.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Andriy Lunin as the player in question.

Shot-stopper Lunin is of course fresh off another challenging campaign in Spain’s capital in 2024/25, which saw the Ukrainian forced to play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois once more.

All told, across all competitions, he was afforded a solid if unspectacular 14 appearances.

Owing to as much, it has been suggested in the media that Lunin could be on the move over the weeks ahead, in search of more consistent playing time.

And as alluded to above, one club keeping a watchful eye on this situation are the aforementioned Villarreal.

As per a report from journalist Matteo Moretto, writing for Marca:

‘Villarreal are looking for an experienced goalkeeper and have inquired about a possible loan move for Real Madrid’s Andrij Lunin in recent days. Negotiations aren’t easy. ‘
