El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that Villarreal have set much of their 2026-27 pre-season, returning on 6 July for medical checks and a high-calibre summer schedule before their Champions League return.
Medical and physical tests will run at the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza on 7 and 8 July. The ball is due back on Thursday 9 July, when Iñigo Pérez will lead his first session as head coach.
The first confirmed friendly is on Saturday 25 July 2026, against PSV Eindhoven at the Philips Stadion, kick-off 18.00. It is set to be a demanding test against a leading Dutch side and a regular in European competition.
Eindhoven will give the new staff a chance to gauge competitiveness, share minutes and assess early tweaks in a season made heavier by European commitments.
After PSV, Villarreal continue in Italy at the Como Cup from 28 July to 1 August, the tournament’s second edition. Host Como 1907 will be joined by Crystal Palace, Lens, Al-Ula of Saudi Arabia and Famalicao of Portugal, with the line-up complete.
The exact format is yet to be confirmed, and match-ups across the five days remain to be set. The first edition was a four-team event at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia featuring Como 1907, Ajax, Celtic and Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia.
The plan blends early work at home with high-level tests abroad to sharpen the team ahead of LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
