Real Madrid and Vini Jr are at an impasse over a new contract, with the forward’s camp seeking terms the club view as steep, raising the prospect of a move elsewhere in Europe.

His current deal runs until mid 2027 and is worth 15 million euros a season. Diario As reports that he wants 20 million euros per year in fresh terms.

Beyond the extra five million, he is also pushing to retain 100% of his image rights, citing partnerships with 18 brands. Real Madrid currently hold around 50% of those rights, while Kylian Mbappé controls nearly 100% of his own.

For Flamengo, a sale would be preferable financially. As his training club, they would receive 5% of any transfer under FIFA’s solidarity mechanism.

Even so, renewal is still regarded as the most likely outcome. If not, Madrid would have to sell him in this window, which closes on 11 September, because with six months remaining he can sign a pre-contract and leave for free next season.

Arsenal are among the admirers, and the player has not yet commented. Vinícius Júnior broke through at Flamengo aged 16 in 2017, made 69 appearances and scored 14 goals before joining Madrid in 2018 for 45 million euros.
