Vinicius Junior has taken the unusual step of completely wiping his Instagram page amid uncertainty over his Real Madrid future.
Arsenal have been recently linked with an ambitious move for Vini Jr, who held talks with Real Madrid yesterday over a possible new contract.
Initially, things looked pretty positive for Arsenal, with AS reporting that Andrea Berta had expressed his confidence over a deal to the Gunners squad.
However, since then Fabrizio Romano has reported that Real Madrid are increasingly confident of keeping Vinicius after a positive meeting yesterday.
So…what to make of this strange stunt by the Brazil international?

As you can see in the screen shot above, Vinicius has for some reason removed his profile picture, all other photos, and all other information from his Instagram page.
For now, no one can say for sure what any of it means, but could it give Arsenal fans some hope that a deal is still alive?
Vini Jr may well be hinting that he wants to wipe the slate clean and remove all mention of Real Madrid from his social media.
The 26-year-old could then start afresh if he ends up joining Arsenal, though none of this really ties in well with Romano’s claims that yesterday’s talks went well.
We’ll have to wait and see, but the reality is that this either doesn’t mean much at all, or it could even be a stunt to tease Real Madrid fans slightly before announcing he’s staying.
Right now, Arsenal fans could do with any slightest hint of optimism they can get, but in all probability, reading too much into this is surely just clutching at straws.

Vinicius would have been a dream signing for Mikel Arteta’s side, but it was always going to be difficult for a variety of reasons.
Even if Arsenal are a big club, it is extremely rare to see a star player leaving Real Madrid during their peak years, and it would probably have cost the north London giants an absolute fortune.
