The social media team at Premier League champions Manchester City have on Monday afternoon dropped a major hint that midfielder Rodri is in line to secure the Ballon d’Or.

This, for those who may have missed it, comes amid a sudden shift atop the frontrunner list for the ‘Golden Ball’.

Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. was until today considered something of a lock to be named world football’s best player, after leading Carlo Ancelotti’s squad to a domestic and European double last season.

In turn, it came as nothing short of a shock when, out of the blue on Monday, it was announced that Real Madrid would in fact not have a single representative present at the Paris gala.

The reason? Vinícius being made aware that he is set to miss out on the Ballon d’Or.

The widespread understanding is that Manchester City star Rodri, instead, has been voted the game’s very best for 2024.

And, as alluded to above, a short time ago, City themselves dropped a considerable hint at precisely as much.

In a post which almost perfectly lined up with reports surfacing that Rodri is the next Ballon d’Or winner, the Sky Blues unveiled a video showcasing their sidelined midfielder’s best goals from the 2023/24 Premier League campaign:
