Vitinho savours first Corinthians goal and details mental work during drought | OneFootball

Vitinho scored his first Corinthians goal on Sunday as the club advanced past Portuguesa, ending a lengthy barren run.

"A very special day. I managed my head well so I would not put too much pressure on myself or be sad. I knew I was doing good work, that I was developing and that God would honour me at the right time, and this goal I will never forget," he told Record TV.

The forward struck in stoppage time at 46 minutes. Introduced on 21 minutes of the second half, he latched on to Matheuzinho’s pass inside the area, controlled neatly and whipped a superb shot into the top corner beyond the keeper.

Vitinho now has 29 appearances for Corinthians. He has also provided four assists, taking his total to five direct goal contributions for the club.

With Vitinho available, Dorival Júnior’s side visit Cruzeiro at the Mineirão in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday at 20:00, in the fourth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
