Kyle Walker says he is ‘delighted and proud’ to become a new Milan player, and is excited to join a club he has ‘followed since I was a kid’ after giving his first update since his move from Manchester City.

Milan officially announced the signing of the 93-time England international on Friday evening. It is a loan move with an option to make the deal permanent for a €5m fee at a later date. He will wear the no.32 shirt for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

“Ciao Milan, I’m delighted and proud to sign for AC Milan! A club with such rich history, one I’ve followed since I was a kid. It’s an honour to join and I can’t wait to pull on the Rossoneri shirt and get started,” Walker wrote in an Instagram post on Friday evening.

“I’m very much looking forward to this new chapter in my career and to beginning this journey with my family in Italy.

“Finally a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way, both on and off the pitch. See you soon!”

Walker becomes Milan’s first signing of the January transfer window, and the first under the reign of head coach Sergio Conceicao, who replaced Paulo Fonseca just before New Year’s Eve.

Milan now have four right-backs on their books, but Emerson Royal is expected to miss around two months of action, while Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi are both out of contract in the summer.

It is understood that Walker may have to wait to make his debut while he and the Rossoneri wait for international clearance, however, it could mean that he ends up making his Serie A debut in the Derby della Madonnina against city rivals Inter next Sunday.
