West Ham have reached an agreement on personal terms with Kyle Walker-Peters who is set to join the club on a free transfer following his departure from Southampton.

The 28-year-old full-back, capped twice by England, left the Saints after his contract at St Mary’s expired. Southampton were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2024–25 campaign.

Walker-Peters had been close to sealing a move to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas, but the Turkish side announced on Thursday that they were pulling out of the deal. The defender had delayed undergoing a medical amid late interest from the Hammers.

During his time at Southampton, Walker-Peters made 202 appearances and found the net six times.

Initially arriving on loan from Tottenham, he signed permanently with the south coast club in 2020.

He featured in 46 Championship matches during the 2023–24 season as Southampton secured promotion, and went on to make 33 Premier League appearances in 2024–25, registering two assists.

West Ham, who ended last season in 14th place, have already added Senegalese defender El Hadji Diouf from Slavia Prague in a £19m deal, and recently finalised a permanent move for Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo following a loan spell.
