Washington Spirit takes top of Group B with home win over Vancouver

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The 2025/26 Concacaf W Champions Cup continued with the Washington Spirit earning a 4-nil win against Vancouver Rise FC Academy in Group B onWednesday at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., USA.
Tara McKeown struck a right-footed banger from outside the box to open the scoring in the 31’.
A header from Heather Stainbrook in the 41’ increased the Spirit lead. Courtney Brown earned the assist on the play.
Trinity Rodman scored her first W Champions Cup goal to strike the third for Washington before half time, in the 45’, on a collective play that allowed Paige Metayer to send Rodman a perfect ball for the one-touch finish.
Deborah Abiodun scored the fourth for the Spirit in the 81’, with a long shot from outside the box.
Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver collected her second consecutive clean sheet of the campaign.
The Washington Spirit improved to 2-0-0 and six points to take first place in the group. The U.S. side will play its third Group Stage match on October 1 against fellow NWSL side Gotham FC.
Vancouver Rise FC Academy will retake the pitch in the W Champions Cup on September 16 when the club hosts Gotham FC.
