Just as momentum continues to build at Barcelona, the club was dealt a significant setback with the injury to Lamine Yamal, one of their most influential players this season.

Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, after missing the recent victory over Getafe, a result that effectively pushed Barcelona to the brink of securing the La Liga title, the young winger reported to the Ciutat Esportiva on Sunday to begin treatment for the issue he picked up earlier in the week.

It is important to understand the scale of the setback that Yamal sustained during the clash against Celta Vigo at the Spotify Camp Nou.

As such, initial optimism has now been replaced by a more sobering reality.

Injured player reporting

The diagnosis confirms that the forward has suffered a problem in the biceps femoris of his left leg, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

As a result, the focus has now shifted towards recovery rather than a return to club action.

Yamal has begun a conservative rehabilitation programme, with the primary objective being to regain full fitness in time for the upcoming international commitments, including the World Cup in June.

As per the outlet, he was not alone in reporting for recovery duties.

Alongside Yamal, Raphinha, the likes of Marc Bernal, and Andreas Christensen were also present to continue their respective rehabilitation processes.

Encouragingly for Barcelona, there is more positive news regarding the latter group.

Speaking recently, manager Hansi Flick suggested that both Raphinha and Bernal could return to the squad as early as this week, offering a timely boost as the team enters a crucial stretch of fixtures.

Christensen, meanwhile, is also nearing full fitness. The defender is expected to rejoin team training soon, potentially within the coming days, depending on how his recovery progresses.

As such, Barcelona will regroup on Wednesday to begin preparations for their upcoming away clash against Osasuna, a fixture that could carry significant weight in deciding the outcome of the title race.
