It was another strong season for centre back Eric Garcia, as he remained an important part of Hansi Flick’s defensive setup and helped FC Barcelona lift both La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.

There is no doubt that the Spaniard has won over Hansi Flick, which is clear from his role as a regular starter in the team. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the 25-year-old spoke on TV3’s ‘Fanzone’, where he reflected on the league title and the work done across the season:

“This league title has had a lot of merit, above all because of the way we won it. All the home matches were won, and that has to be appreciated… We all want to win the Champions League, but La Liga is a reward for the consistency we have shown, and that is very difficult to achieve.”

Garcia also made it clear that this season carried personal importance for him as well, highlighting his own development within the squad:

“Together with the season at Girona, I think this is the season in which I have grown the most.”

One of the key aspects of his role under Flick has been his versatility, with the defender used across different positions when the team needed it most. Garcia also addressed that adaptability during the interview:

“We all like to have a more fixed role, but with injuries and everything else, in the end, you adapt.”

The Spaniard also highlighted what makes Hansi Flick stand out in his day-to-day management of the squad:

“He always tries to help, not only with things on the pitch, but also off it, and that is something every player appreciates.”

Garcia also took time to praise Robert Lewandowski, who played an important role during a key transitional phase for the team and is now set to leave Barcelona after spending four seasons at the Catalan club:

“Robert arrived at a time when we were going through a transition period. He came from a title-winning Bayern side, and he is super professional and takes great care of himself. We will miss him, and we have to be very grateful for everything he has done.”

With his performances this season, Garcia will now be hoping to stay firmly in Flick’s plans moving forward, while also strengthening his case for a possible call-up with Spain ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
