FC Barcelona got their fifth victory on the trot as they beat Las Palmas away from home in the last La Liga game. This win was also important as it allowed the Blaugranes to regain the first position in the league table, which they had temporarily lost to Atletico Madrid after the Colchoneros won 3-0 against Valencia.
Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres were able to score two goals in this game after a rather drab first half. But this game was also important for the midfielder Marc Casado, as he made his way into the starting lineup after having seen Frenkie de Jong start over him for the last few games.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spanish midfielder also spoke to the media after the game. Casado took this opportunity to clarify that both the substitutes and the starters are willing to give their all to help the team whenever Flick calls upon them:
“Both those who start in the lineup and those who come on later are very focused, and at this stage, it’s very important considering the month ahead with so many important matches. There’s a squad with a lot of quality and world-class players. We all perform well and are eager to compete.”
The Barcelona midfielder also expressed his satisfaction with the difficult win his side got last night:
“It’s an important victory in a tough stadium. We took advantage of our opportunities, and the win gives us confidence and allows us to stay in first place.”
Casado also hinted at an error from the referee which could have ended up costing his team:
“We were rushed in the first half, although they gained momentum with three corners, which I was told came from plays where they were offside.”
Eric Garcia also talked about another refereeing controversy from this game, but fortunately, neither of these events was able to impact Barcelona much, who took the full three points against a good Las Palmas side.
