Everton defender James Tarkowski has stated the team are confident they can get a result from their upcoming clash against Manchester City on Thursday.
Sean Dyche’s side battled to a goalless stalemate against Chelsea last time out, having previously held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking ahead of the Toffees’ trip to the Etihad Stadium to take on Pep Guardiola’s men, Tarkowski insisted City are a top side, but Everton remain bullish about the chances of coming away with something from the game.
“I know it is difficult to go to these stadiums, and there is a lot of talk about Man City’s form right now, but I still look at their team and see a team full of players who are quality,” the 32-year-old was quoted as saying by the Express.
“City are a top side, so people are going to question them at the minute, but we are going there fully expecting to get a result from the game.
“We are a team in good form, and we have not lost many games in the last 12 or 13 games, and we are in a place where we are feeling good.”
Having kept the joint-most clean sheets in the league this term alongside Liverpool (seven), Everton are set to pose a stern test to Man City.
The reigning English champions are currently not as productive in attack as usual and have lost six of their last eight matches to sit 12 points shy of Liverpool in the title race.
Despite their defensive solidity, Everton are just four points clear of the relegation zone, albeit with a game in hand following their postponed Merseyside derby initially scheduled for December 7.
