Ruben Amorim has reiterated his belief that his tactics are not the reason for Manchester United losing games.

Amorim’s decision to stick with his 3-4-3 formation has continued to be criticised following a poor start to the campaign.

But ahead of the game against Sunderland, Amorim insisted again that it is not the reason for his team’s bad form.

“It’s normal, and you cannot run away from the results,” Amorim said of the criticism. “Then you have the baggage from last season.

“But last season for me doesn’t matter. We’ve had six games this season and we lost three. We have to look at the games we lost.

“If we lost against Arsenal because of the system, it’s your job to make the opinions. When you look at the game against City was the first thing that you think when the game starts, it’s the system? I think you don’t think about the system in that moment.

“And Brentford. The way we conceded goals, the way we create chances, that is nothing to do with the system. That is my opinion.

“I’m not saying this team would play better in a different system or not. That is not my point. My point is that if I look at the games we didn’t win, the most important thing when I watch the game, it’s not that we lost because of the system.

“That is my opinion. People have different opinions, and that’s okay.”
