Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić says that his side can go to Arsenal with plenty of confidence.

The Seagulls travel to the Mangata Developments Stadium, Meadow Park to take on The Gunners in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon.

Brighton & Hove Albion recorded a 4-2 home victory over Arsenal last season while they only lost 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium back in October. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić said that his side can take confidence from their recent performances against the North Londoners.

“We always talk about becoming the first team to make history for the club, to bring the first piece of silverware,” Vidošić said. “We know in every competition, that’s really tough. It’s the best league in the world with the best teams, so we know each and every week is a challenge.

“If we prepare well, we can go there confident. We had a fantastic result against them [last season] and earlier in the season, we had a very good game at the Emirates. There’s a lot that we can take confidence from but at the weekend, it’s a new game and a new challenge. It’s one that we are definitely looking forward to.”

Going on to discuss Arsenal further, Vidošić highlighted The Gunners’ ability to inflict damage on opponents very quickly.

He said “Arsenal’s always a tricky one because they can keep the ball and also hit you very quickly. When you play them away from home with their crowd and support, if you do concede, it can quickly turn into two or three which you saw in the North London derby. The game can quickly get away from you. We’ve spoken about that and we learned from that from last season when we went to the Emirates.

“We have to be prepared for all scenarios. In different moments, we want to have our momentum and try to hurt them with the ball.

“We’ll have to see who plays for them off the back of the Champions League game but with the quality that they have, we have to be prepared for everything.”

This weekend’s fixture takes place at the Mangata Developments Stadium, Meadow Park rather than the Emirates Stadium. The two venues are very different but Vidošić says that this doesn’t affect his side’s preparation.

He said “For me, there’s nothing [different]. The pitch is the same, the rules are the same, maybe the surroundings are different. Once the game starts, you don’t really think about it in terms of ‘we are at the Emirates’ when the game is on. You’re in the moment, playing each moment on it’s merit, so I don’t think it’ll have any real impact.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup quarter-final tie at Arsenal kicks-off at 1pm on Sunday afternoon.
