Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić was pleased with how his side dug deep to find a way to defeat Everton 3-2 at Walton Hall Park on Sunday afternoon.

Everton twice took the lead thanks to goals from Sara Holmgaard and Katja Snoeijs but each time, they were pegged back with Michelle Agyemang and Fran Kirby responding for Brighton & Hove Albion. The two sides looked set for a share of the spoils until Nikita Parris struck a dramatic late winner for The Seagulls.

When speaking to the media after the match, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić admitted that he was pleased with his side’s resilience and their ability to dig deep for the win.

“I think it was definitely a tough game,” Vidošić said. “I’m probably a little bit disappointed with the two goals that we conceded.

“I thought we started to find our rhythm in that first half and then in the second half, we were probably a bit more dominant.
We didn’t feel as threatened as much.

“We had to persist, we had to dig deep today; we had to find that resilience after going down twice. I thought we kept persisting, kept trying to play our football and we found the winner in the end.”

One of Brighton & Hove Albion’s most impressive performers of late has been forward Agyemang. She recently made her senior England debut and has netted in back-to-back games for her club. Vidošić was full of praise for the youngster.

He said “There are lots of learnings, lots of highs and lows that she’s gone through with us this season. Firstly, she’s learnt as an impact player coming off the bench and now, as a starting player and a more regular starting player.

“
She’s taken a lot of learnings, it’s her first season professionally in the WSL and she’s taken a lot in. She’s working really hard and that’s why she’s in the right place contributing goals, contributing in the attack. Also, on the defensive side, she’s helping the team, so I’m really, really pleased with her.”

Brighton & Hove Albion have found wins hard to come by in the second half of the season and Vidošić spoke about the team’s tough period.

He said “I think we’ve been a little bit disappointing from the winter break; some games in terms of how we’ve played and then other games, I think we’ve played good and sometimes been a little bit unfortunate with things.

“Overall, we’ve developed an identity, the way we want to play. We’ve faced some tough times, but we’ve been able to bounce back, still play our way and found the winner [today].
We look forward to hopefully ending the season on a high.”

Brighton & Hove Albion are next in action on Monday 5 May 2025 when Arsenal are the visitors to Broadfield Stadium.
