Crystal Palace star Tyrick Mitchell has been speaking ahead of their match with Newcastle United.

The left-back declaring ‘We know Newcastle United are dangerous.’

Tyrick Mitchell has started all 12 of the Crystal Palace Premier League matches this season, with them second bottom of the table due to just winning one of those dozen games, drawing five others, losing six.

The Crystal Palace star says that whilst Newcastle United have lost some games (four) this season, they have also won plenty (eight in all competitions).

You may recall Tyrick Mitchell and his part in, against stiff opposition, the most appalling VAR/refereeing decision  of recent years.

Two seasons ago at St James’ Park, with the game goalless, Sven Botman headed Kieran Trippier’s cross, back across goal.

Joe Willock went to head the ball in from close in but was clearly pushed by Tyrick Mitchell, Willock pushed into Palace keeper Vicente Guaita.

As Tyrick Mitchell committed that foul, the ball bounced off his chest and into the goal.

Newcastle United players and fans waited to see if a goal would be given, or a penalty for the Tyrick Mitchell foul on Joe Willock, only for VAR and the on the pitch referee to somehow decide it was a free-kick to Palace for Willock supposedly fouling the keeper, even though Mitchell had clearly shoved him when the Newcastle player was in the air.

Unbelievable. The game ending goalless as well despite Newcastle battering Palace.

Hopefully none of that kind of nonsense going against United this afternoon.

Tyrick Mitchell speaking to Premier League Productions:

“Everyone saw that last season.

“They’ve seen it this season as well – they’ve won a lot of games.

“They’ve lost games, but they’ve won a lot of games as well, and they’ve beaten some very good teams this season.

“We know as a team it’s going to be difficult, but we know what we’re capable of, and however we play will determine if we win or lose.

“From the moment I joined, I could see how massive the fanbase was, how massively people held Palace in regard, in South London especially, it was definitely a prideful moment when I joined.

“From there it’s just been it’s been like a rollercoaster. There’ve been downs, but there’ve been a lot of ups, and playing for Palace, you just get a sense of pride when playing and when you’re trying to achieve something.

“It just feels like a family base, and somewhere where you can really grow as a player and grow as a person.”

Tyrick Mitchell on the season so far:

“The first few games it was tough. We had a lot of players who played in the tournaments in the summer, so weren’t really with us in pre-season, but personally [speaking] we didn’t start off how we wanted to, and when we looked at the database it showed that we weren’t playing how we finished playing the season last year.

“I think we just went back to our complete basics when it comes to how much we run – we try to outrun our opponents in possession and out of possession, and when you do that, that’s halfway to winning the game, if that makes sense – so I think our physical output is part of it that we’ve really tried to improve from the beginning of the season.

“We know what we’re good at and we know how we can win games, so it’s about making those moments happen even more and putting ourselves in positions where we can show how good we are, and I think that’s the main aim going forward from the next game – and every game onwards.

“With where we are in the table, you’re always looking forward to the next game. You always want to put things right, for yourself, for your team, for your teammates, for the manager, and for the club, so it’s something that we definitely look forward to. We just feel that once we cross that little barrier that we might have at the moment, things will just get better and better.”
