PSV lost a five goal thriller against La Liga side Atletico Madrid last night in the Champions League. Guus Til continued his fine form with an early goal for the Eredivisie champions, only for the side to be 3-1 down after an hour. Despite a late goal from substitute Ricardo Pepi, PSV lost their second game in this seasons competition. With eight points from six games they remain on course to qualify for the next round but are four points adrift of the top eight.

After the game, head coach Peter Bosz told the attending media that he felt the result was fair. The PSV boss said ‘They deserved to win because they controlled most of the match. This is truly the top team, and that’s what we played against tonight’. Bosz also went on to say he didn’t think PSV ‘played well enough’ against an Atletico side that have now won four of their six Champions League games.

PSV have two tough games to end the league phase of the Champions League. First up, on the 21st of January, the side will travel to England to face Newcastle. A week later they will welcome high flying Bayern Munich to Eindhoven. It is likely that they will need to pick up some points from these games to ensure they are comfortably through to the next round of the competition.
