France international midfielder Adrien Rabiot (31) is adamant Les Bleus won’t let their guard down against Graham Potter’s Sweden on Tuesday at East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium for their 2026 FIFA World Cup last-32. France are riding high on confidence after a near-perfect group stage campaign that saw them dispatch Senegal (3-1), Iraq (3-0) and Norway (4-1).
Speaking to the media this Monday at the New York New Jersey ground, Rabiot has reminded that, for France, a whole different competition will debut with the start of the knock-out stage, which may force Les Bleus to enhance their defensive efforts. “We have an attacking quartet that puts in a lot of effort defensively, trying to maintain a certain discipline. Sometimes you have to take risks. As we progress in the competition, we might need to adjust some things, do a bit more.”
The AC Milan midfielder has acknowledged that Sweden could hurt France, especially with their Premier League players like Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyökeres and Anthony Elanga. “They have quality players. We’re taking this game very seriously. We hear from outside that we’ll be the overwhelming favorites. Anything can happen.”
