Chelsea are enduring another difficult campaign, and are in danger of once again failing to qualify for the Champions League.
The Blues sit sixth, four points behind Liverpool in the final Champions League place, with just six games remaining.
Having been quiet in January, Chelsea are once again expected to be busy in the summer, with a number of areas of the squad needing to be strengthened.
Co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the model will be tweaked, and it’s thought Chelsea are open to signing players with proven Premier League experience.
Fans of course have heard this all before, and have every right to remain sceptical until there’s actual evidence of it being done.
Chelsea face a critical summer which they can’t afford to get wrong, and Palmer has revealed he’s had constructive discussions with the sporting directors.
“It’s something we’re working on together,” Palmer told The Guardian.
“We’re on the same page, we want to win now and I think if we add right in the summer we can compete for serious trophies next season.
“I don’t think we’re far off. If you sign the right players in the right positions and the right characters and profiles, I think we have more than enough quality to compete and be more consistent than we’ve shown over this season.
“Me and Reece spoke a lot. About things we need, players we need to sign and how things need to be. He wouldn’t sign a new contract if he didn’t know what was going on.”
