West Brom have completed the signing of 20-year-old forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan from Chelsea on a four-year contract worth an initial £1.3m. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the move continues Albion’s busy start to the summer window.
Able to operate as a striker or attacking midfielder, Morgan hit 14 goals on loan at Peterborough in League One last season. He came through Southampton’s academy before switching to Chelsea.
His arrival follows the £1.3m capture of Falkirk striker Barney Stewart a day earlier. A few hours before Morgan was announced, Albion confirmed 19-year-old defender Carter Pinnington from Liverpool on a three-year deal, initially for the under-21s and with experience in midfield.
Morgan described the move as an easy choice after contact around two weeks ago, with conversations about playing style and development helping to shape his decision. He highlighted the size of the club and aims to learn, play regularly and, hopefully, score plenty while helping Albion finish higher than last season.
This proactive approach comes in the first window since the 2024 Bilkul Group takeover in which cutting costs is not the primary focus. Decisions are pending from Karlan Grant and Josh Maja on new offers before their contracts expire at the end of the month, while clarity is expected on James Morrison’s backroom team after talks with Celtic coach Gavin Strachan.
