West Brom have reportedly been charged with a breach of the EFL’s Profitability and Sustainability rules, a development that could affect Leicester City’s relegation battle, The Telegraph reports.
The case relates to exceeding the loss limit across the three seasons ending 2024-25. If upheld, sanctions are usually a points deduction applied in the season the charge is brought.
There are only three weeks left, and it appears unlikely a hearing and any appeal could conclude before the final round of fixtures.
West Brom posted combined losses of £61.9m over the assessed period. In the Championship, permitted losses across three seasons are £39m, with allowable add-backs that can reduce the figure.
West Brom maintain they have fully complied with the P&S rules and are cooperating with the EFL’s Club Financial Reporting Unit, while focusing on the final four games and declining further comment.
On the pitch, the Baggies are five points ahead of City and two above the drop after a seven-match unbeaten run under interim boss James Morrison. City are four points from safety.
