The Baggies have made a move to sign Owls midfielder Svante Ingelsson heading into the final hours of deadline day.
West Brom are reportedly set to make a late move to sign Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Svante Ingelsson, rivalling Portsmouth and Millwall for his signature.
This has been reported by journalist Alan Nixon, who has detailed that the Black Country outfit have made a late inquiry into the Swede as the 7pm deadline approaches.
The Baggies are believed to be keen on striking a £500k deal, but would have to offer “a decent contract” in order to lure him to B71.
As mentioned above, Portsmouth and Millwall have also been in contention to land the midfielder. He put moves to the Championship duo on hold for personal reasons, with his partner due to give birth soon.
The Baggies are in need of additional midfield options for the remainder of the season, with the club previously struggling at points over the season with injuries to Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby, while they have yet to replace the departure of Toby Collyer back to Manchester United.
But they may be set to act in the final few hours of the transfer window, with Albion unexpectedly looking to be busy on the transfer front.

As per a report by transfer guru Alan Nixon, West Brom have made a late enquiry for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Svante Ingelsson.
The Swede has been a regular in the Owls setup, featuring 28 times as the Yorkshire outfit look League One-bound, while Wednesday may have to sell players in order to facilitate incomings themselves.
Due to this, Albion are looking at completing a late swoop for the 27-year-old, who has been of previous interest to Championship duo Portsmouth and Millwall, but the midfielder stalled on those moves due to his partner being set to give birth very soon.
The Baggies are believed to be keen on striking a deal worth in the region of £500,000, but would have to also offer “a decent contract” to lure him to The Hawthorns.
According to the article, much of the deal working out will come down to the cost, with the Baggies still dealing with strenuous financial constraints due to PSR compliance.

While Svante Ingelsson won’t earn many Championship plaudits playing for a side rooted to the foot of the table, there is a definitely a player there that can thrive for another second-tier side, and it could well be West Brom.
Ingelsson’s versatility is a huge plus for any team, with the Swede playing mainly in a defensive midfield role, but also able to get into more advanced positions if needed.
Ingelsson will be driven to play at as high a level as possible, while his physical attributes could be a real bonus to protecting the backline and ensuring the team stops conceding such an alarming rate of goals that has been witnessed so far under Eric Ramsay.
It will be intriguing to see how this develops in the coming hours, but it could end up being a massive signing for the Baggies and their relegation fight.
