FLW's West Ham fan pundit shares their thoughts on the £25 million price tag put on Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer
West Ham United head back into the Championship for the 2026/27 campaign, as the Hammers look to ensure their first time in the second tier for 14 years is as short-lived as possible.
When West Ham's relegation was confirmed on the final day following Tottenham Hotspur's victory over Everton, there was a sense that the Hammers' squad would be under major construction.
Whilst the exits haven't piled out of the London Stadium as yet, with Mateus Fernandes' £85 million move to Spurs being the first, and probably the most lucrative of the summer, more are expected over the coming weeks and months.
Jarrod Bowen has been linked with moves away, as has Crysencio Summerville, with the pair drawing interest from numerous Premier League clubs.
More exits are expected before additions can be made, as one defender is commanding a transfer fee which has divided opinion.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka exploded onto the scene with Crystal Palace some eight years ago, and since then, the DR Congo international has made just shy of 200 appearances for Manchester United, before securing a £15 million move to West Ham in the summer of 2024, where he has since made 65 appearances across all competitions.
The right-back penned a seven-year deal in West London, meaning his contract is not due to expire until the summer of 2031; West Ham are firmly in the driving seat when it comes to negotiating a fee this summer.
As a result, the Hammers have reportedly slapped a £25 million price tag on the 28-year-old amid interest from the likes of Everton, as well as Sunderland, Spurs, Fulham, and Newcastle United.
Football League World's West Ham fan pundit, Ryan Horn, has shared their thoughts on the reported price tag on Wan-Bissaka's head this summer, and whether it is enough to put off potential suitors.
Ryan said: "£25 million for Aaron Wan-Bissaka? I do think that will put off people. But, you look at how the market is, it's ridiculous at the moment. You're seeing some crazy numbers fly around.
"Look how much Tottenham have spent. You know, look how much we sold Fernandes for. And, you know, Summerville's price tag is quite high as well. Wan-Bissaka had an okay World Cup, which helps. You know, he was our Hammer of the Year, the year before last season.
"I kind of hope that we keep him. I think he would do brilliantly in the Championship. He just needs to sort of get back to where he was when we first signed him. I do think Everton will come back in for him. Moyes liked him for a long time; that was well known. I've seen multiple clubs linked with him.
"I don't know if the £25 million will put them off when people are spending ridiculous amounts on players. I think now in context, £25 million will seem like a bargain for a Premier League-proven player who can be really good on the pitch.
"So yeah, it's hit or miss with him really. I think it will put off some people, but at the same time, I think people will just go, yeah, okay, you know, we can do it sort of thing."

With West Ham having set their price tag at around £25 million for Wan-Bissaka, whether they will actually be able to receive such a fee for the 28-year-old remains to be seen.
The DR Congo international, who represented his nation at the recent World Cup in North America and impressed, has over 230 Premier League appearances to his name, and at 28, ought to be at the peak of his powers. With five years remaining on his deal, the Hammers are well within their right to command such a fee.
However, whether anyone will pay it at this stage is up in the air, as their price tag could merely be a deterrent, with Nuno likely wanting to keep the defender in East London.
The Hammers will want an immediate Premier League return, and their chances of doing so with Wan-Bissaka in the side are almost certainly better off than if he wasn't, as West Ham set their price tag on the defender amid top flight interest.
