West Ham United, three places and six points behind Leeds United in 15th, will be without big-money January arrival Pablo Felipe for several weeks.

According to The Athletic, the £21 million signing from Gil Vicente faces four to six weeks out with a calf problem, with the earliest return at the end of March and possibly into April.

Before their most recent league match against Manchester United, Nuno Espirito Santo said he expected absences but declined to name players. On matchday, Pablo Felipe was not in the squad.

He is almost certain to miss league games against Bournemouth, Liverpool, Fulham and Manchester City. A six-week lay-off would mean a post-March international break return and could see him miss West Ham’s meeting with Aston Villa too.

The 22-year-old has yet to score in five Premier League appearances but has injected energy into the frontline alongside fellow January addition Taty Castellanos, helping to free up Jarrod Bowen.

Both teams are in good form, but Leeds will focus on their own job. They visit Aston Villa this weekend, West Ham host Bournemouth, and Tottenham and Nottingham Forest face Arsenal and Liverpool respectively.
