West Ham United are in talks with Chelsea over a loan move for Raheem Sterling, according to ExWHUemployee.

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo wanted to bring the Englishman to Nottingham Forest in the summer and remains keen on working with him.

ExWHUemployee – a reliable and renowned Hammers insider – claimed on the West Ham Way Patreon this evening that the London Stadium club are hoping to pip Fulham to the services of Sterling.

The 31-year-old, who won four Premier League titles at Manchester City, currently earns £325,000 per week, but Chelsea are prepared to pay most of it if he leaves.

Arsenal paid just 30 per cent (£97,500) out of his weekly wages for the period of his season-long loan from Chelsea last season, and West Ham could get a similar deal.

The Blues ended up paying £12 million of his yearly £17m wages, while the North London club parted with just £5m in wages and zero loan fees.

Should Chelsea agree to cover most of his wages, the Hammers could be parting with around £2.5m if a deal for Sterling gets over the line.

It could prove to be a smart move as they look to hold on to their Premier League status at the end of the season.

Sterling has plenty to prove and a move to West Ham could get the best out of him if he gets motivated and finds his rhythm again.

He grabbed just one goal and five assists in 28 appearances for Arsenal last term, but it seems the Hammers are ready to take a punt on him.

West Ham wanted him in the summer as former manager Graham Potter eyed a reunion with the Chelsea winger, and he could finally move during the ongoing winter transfer window.
