West Ham United striker Pablo Felipe is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks with a calf problem, according to The Athletic.

The Brazilian joined West Ham from Gil Vicente in January after the Hammers paid €20 million to bring him to the London Stadium club.

Hammers manager Nuno Espirito Santo announced in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Manchester United game that Pablo had got injured and would be out for a while.

While the West Ham boss claimed they do not know for how long, some fans were suggesting that he had played his last game for the season.

However, Pablo is expected to return to action after the international break in March in a much-needed boost for West Ham’s survival hopes.

The 22-year-old will miss the games against Bournemouth, Liverpool, Fulham, Brentford and Manchester City, but could be back for the trip to Aston Villa on March 22.

West Ham have seven league games left after their trip to the Midlands and Pablo should be available for them as they look to retain their Premier League status at the end of the season.

They could also still be playing in the FA Cup by then if they beat the Bees in the last-16 next month.

He has yet to register a goal or assist in six appearances for the Hammers, but his work rate has been very impressive and he has become popular with the supporters due to his unrelenting tenacity on and off the ball.

Pablo notched ten goals and one assist in 13 games in the Portuguese top-flight earlier this season before moving to West Ham, and he has what it takes to deliver in the final third.

The club are 18th in the league table after 26 games but are three points off safety and could escape relegation if they maintain their current form.

They have won five of their last seven games across all competitions, drawing one, and a win at home against Bournemouth on Saturday could be huge.
