West Ham United are preparing a bid and an opening offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to the Guardian.
Wolves want £40 million for Strand Larsen, and it is unclear whether the Hammers are open to spending that much on a player who has struggled this season.
The 25-year-old notched 14 league goals in 35 games last term after ending his time in La Liga with 13 goals in 37 league games for Celta Vigo in 2023-24.
Wolves believe Strand Larsen is worth £40m, but they are unlikely to get that much for him if they are relegated at the end of the season.
West Ham have a couple of striking options on their radar, but manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants players with experience in English football.
The Norwegian international fits the bill as his link-up play, aerial ability and mobility could be perfect for the Hammers’ style of play under the Portuguese.
However, Wolves may need to reduce their asking price for a deal to get done, as West Ham could also look to strengthen other areas.
They want a new defender, but an attempt to sign Manchester City’s Nathan Ake on loan has failed as he is not interested in joining them.
West Ham are 18th in the table after 19 games, four points off safety, and they need to improve in the second half of the season to boost their chances of survival.
