Derby County fans were impressed with Patrick Agyemang's assist for David Ozoh in the crucial win over Norwich City on Tuesday night.
Derby County picked up just their second win of the season on Tuesday night as a David Ozoh goal was enough to see off Norwich City.
John Eustace’s side have endured a difficult start to the campaign, so the pressure had been building on the team going into the Canaries’ visit to Pride Park.
And, whilst it wasn’t always pretty, Derby managed to stand firm defensively, and they ultimately took the victory thanks to an excellent strike from Ozoh in the 55th minute.
Whilst the on-loan Crystal Palace man deserves huge credit for the finish, Patrick Agyemang also played a massive role in the goal thanks to his perseverance.
The striker showed his strength to power past Pelle Mattson, and, to his credit, he stayed on his feet when the Norwich midfielder had clearly fouled him, which caused Agyemang to stumble.
Then, the USA international managed to compose himself, before his perfectly weighted pass allowed Ozoh to take a touch before curling home.
There was a lot of excitement when Derby agreed a deal that could be worth in excess of £7m for Agyemang, but he has had an inconsistent side as he continues to adapt to life in England.
However, it’s clear he has the physical qualities to cause major problems, and it’s fair to say that Derby fans were very impressed with Agyemang’s assist against Norwich…
Another was quick to recognise the strength that Agyemang had shown, as he registered what was his third assist of the season.
One fan was delighted with the work-rate that Agyemang had shown as he kept fighting to keep the situation alive for Derby.
Finally, a Charlotte FC fan noted that this was the Agyemang that had flourished in MLS, as he backed the player to continue to improve and prove his worth for Derby after his high-profile transfer.
This was a fantastic goal from Derby, and it really was a great assist from Agyemang, who was simply too strong for Mattson, and he should also be praised for getting back to his feet instead of staying down, which we have seen many other players do.
After watching his highlights for Charlotte FC, Rams fans will have known that Agyemang's physicality is one of his main attributes, as he is so strong and quick, which makes him difficult to stop.
Eustace and Derby were always going to have to be patient with Agyemang, as he was moving to a new league, adapting to a different culture, and trying to get used to what the manager wants from him.
Clearly, as a collective, the Rams have been struggling this season, but there are some reasons for optimism, and Agyemang's performance last night was an example of what he can bring to the team.
