After yesterday's slightly inauspicious start, the Club World Cup really hits its stride today with four games for us to enjoy.

First off it's European behemoths Bayern Munich against the only amateur side in the competition, Auckland City. Cincinnati's TQL Stadium will play host to this genuine David vs Goliath encounter.

After that it's a proper heavyweight ding-dong between Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético de Madrid with the reigning European champions ready to take on a side who actually beat them in this season's Champions League.

At midnight, European time, we have South America's best side, Palmeiras, facing Portuguese outfit Porto. Palmeiras fans have already taken over New York's Times Square, so expect plenty of noise for that one.

And we round off the day with a clash on the west coast as Botafogo of Brazil go to Seattle to take on hosts the Sounders.

There has been no more exciting player in the back half of the 2024/25 season than Paris Saint-Germain's Désiré Doué.

The French youngster has been a consistent thorn in full-backs' sides this term but took his performance levels to another stratosphere in the Champions League final.

Doué became the first teenager to score two goals in a European Cup final as he helped the Parisiens to a 5-0 win over Inter last month.

Expect the now 20-year-old to be at the heart of everything later on as PSG face Atleti in Los Angeles.

Fun facts 📊

  • We could see debuts for Bayern duo Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof, who both joined the Bavarian giants during the mini transfer window this month.
  • Pasadena Rose Bowl Stadium will likely hold good memories for the Brazilian stars in the Atleti and PSG squads - it was the venue for the Seleçao's triumph over Italy in the 1994 World Cup final.
  • New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, which will host Palmeiras vs Porto, will also be the venue for next year's World Cup final.

Our prediction

  • Bayern Munich 6-0 Auckland City
  • Atlético de Madrid 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain
  • Palmeiras 1-0 Porto
  • Botafogo 2-1 Seattle Sounders
