Manchester City are closing in on the WSL title and with just eight games to play in the season, the league leaders are counting down the days until they are crowned champions.
Following victory against Chelsea over the weekend, Manchester City now hold an 11 point lead in the WSL.
The league leaders have been phenomenal this season – losing just one game all year.
After losing to the Blues in the season opener Andree Jeglertz has led his team to an improbable 13 straight wins.
There are still eight games left to play in the league but the lead City have built up may be an unassailable one.
Manchester United are now the nearest pursuers to the Cityzens. Arsenal could close the gap down to 10 points however, as their fixture against Leicester was postponed last weekend due to their involvement in the Champions Cup.
Even 10 points may be too many though, as City would need to drop points in at least four games for anyone to prevent them from winning the title.
Although they are on the doorstep of the title, City still have some very tough games to play.
Andree Jeglertz’ side can extend their lead atop the table on Sunday as they face Arsenal away from home. The Gunners have been good lately however, as their last two games have seen them beat Chelsea and lift the inaugural Champions Cup.
Should City beat Arsenal, they would then restore their 11 point lead atop the table.
Easier games then come up for the league leaders with Aston Villa and Leicester either side of the international break.
If the rest of the top four win their next four games, City could win the league with four games left to play.
That would set up for a blockbuster matchup against City’s bitter rivals which could see them lift the title away at Manchester United on March 29th.
Of course if results go their way then City could win the title before the end of March.
