Manchester City have six games remaining in their current Premier League campaign and will learn their fixture schedule for the 2025-26 season in the coming months.
Pep Guardiola’s side took a giant leap towards securing UEFA Champions League football for next season with a stylish 5-2 comeback win over Crystal Palace last weekend, with each of Kevin De Bruyne, Omar Marmoush, Mateo Kovacic, James McAtee and Nico O’Reilly on the scoresheet at the Etihad Stadium.
City are set to recruit some big names in the summer transfer window amid interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso – but first things first and Guardiola will no be stranger to the importance of Champions League football in trying to attract his transfer targets this summer.
The reigning Premier League champions will face Everton, Aston Villa, Wolves, Southampton, Bournemouth and Fulham in their remaining league fixtures – as hopes remain of a successful FA Cup run to finish what has been a strange season on a strong note should City see off Nottingham Forest in the semi-final at Wembley and go all the way.
Kevin De Bruyne will be leaving Manchester City in the summer though there remain doubts over whether the Belgian will participate in the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States, as he weighs offers to embark upon a new chapter after City decided against offering the 33-year-old a contract renewal.
City will feature in the newly-formatted, 32-club tournament between June and July before beginning their preparations for the 2025-26 campaign, wherein the Blues will be looking to challenge for the Premier League and UEFA Champions League once again.
The Premier League have confirmed the 38-game schedule for the 2025-26 season will be released at 09:00 BST on Wednesday 18 June 2025 – when all teams in the league will learn who they will be playing over the course of the next season.
It has been confirmed that the final match round will be played on Sunday 24 May 2026 – with the 2025/26 season will consist of 33 weekends and five midweek match rounds. The start date of 16 August will allows for the maximum player rest time available, amounting to 83 clear days, from the end of the 2024/25 season.
The season end date of 24 May 2026 ensures the Premier League season finishes ahead of the FIFA 2026 World Cup call-up period. The Premier League have confirmed there will be no fixture on 24 December 2025.
City will look to make a strong start to the new season, which has not really been the hallmark of Guardiola’s title-winning sides in Manchester over the years, as the Blues normally pick up form in the second half of the season and sweep everything in front of them.
