The Baggies have appointed the former Minnesota United boss on a two-and-a-half-year deal, with the Welshman becoming the third manager under the Bilkul regime since Carlos Corberan departed The Hawthorns in December 2024.

There will be hope that Ramsay can be the man to find the formula for success, with the ex-Chelsea and Manchester United coach getting a Minnesota team to punch well above their weight in the MLS on limited resources.

Ramsay inherits a West Brom squad currently languishing 18th in the Championship, seven points away from the bottom three but also 10 points off a place inside the top six, so a promotion push could still be on the cards if the club can strike some consistency under the new Baggies boss.

With 20 games still remaining in the second-tier, Ramsay can still have a big impact on the way Albion’s season unfolds.

And with this in mind, FLW has asked AI to predict where West Brom will finish by the end of the 2025-26 season under the Ramsay's guidance.

AI predicts West Brom to finish 14th at the end of the season under Eric Ramsay

When asking AI where West Brom would finish by the end of the season under Eric Ramsay, it didn’t provide the exciting answer that most Baggies supporters would have been hopeful for in terms of getting back into promotion contention, but it does believe the club will be able to survive comfortably and build towards something better the following term.

From this, the technology predicted the Black Country outfit would finish the season four places better off than they currently find themselves, in 14th, accruing between 58 to 60 points after the 46-game campaign is done and dusted.

AI does believe Ramsay will get the West Brom team much more structurally organised and harder to beat, but insists they won’t become free-scoring or dominant enough in matches to push into the top half of the table. Results are predicted to be particularly good at The Hawthorns, which should be enough to see them steer away from any relegation trouble.

For now, the club isn’t believed to be able to sustain a long period of positive form to worry the teams above them challenging for promotion back to the Premier League, with the fanbase predicted to feel more relief at surviving this season’s scare, feeling the excitement next season when Ramsay has a full pre-season under his belt and is able to add to his squad given the financial limitations will be lifted.

AI prediction of West Brom’s season appears logical

When looking at the prediction AI has made of how the rest of the 2025-26 campaign will play out for West Brom, it’s hard to argue against it.

With just seven points separating the Baggies from the bottom three, the first and sole focus has to be getting as far away from relegation trouble as possible, otherwise fan hostility could transition towards Ramsay so early into his tenure, which would be a disaster given he has been chosen as the leader for a longer-term project at B71.

It would seem an almighty ask for Albion to get back into the promotion picture at this stage, purely because this isn’t Ramsay’s ideal squad to work with. He’s bound to have targets in mind for how the Albion team can be improved, but for now he’s got to try to find a system and playing style that suits what he has at his disposal, and that could take a bit of time to figure out.

AI is also correct in predicting that Ramsay will get West Brom harder to beat, which was demonstrated at Minnesota United where he got the club punching above their weight in the MLS, building his team on showing defensive grit, organisation and utilising set-pieces.

Through this style, home matches are going to be so key for Albion to pick up points between now and May, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see The Hawthorns become the fortress that it was previously under Carlos Corberan.

While anything is possible in football, a lot of West Brom supporters would accept a mid-table finish if it meant they were not being pulled towards the League One trapdoor.

And given the financial situation is expected to look a lot rosier next summer, allowing the ownership to invest heavily into the playing squad, that could be the time to witness real progress under Ramsay and see if the club can push towards getting back to the top-flight.

For now, the 34-year-old has to prove to the Albion faithful that he is a proactive coach, can make the correct in-game management and builds an identity that the fans can get on board with, areas that were unable to be found under Ryan Mason.

If supporters can see what he is trying to do, then a lot more patience will be afforded to the Baggies boss, which will be vitally important to any future success happening under his tenure.
