AC Milan have risen further in the UEFA club coefficient rankings after a second consecutive Champions League win, this time against Real Madrid.

Arsenal are the team above in 20th place with 67,000 points, while to get into the top 10 a 19,000-point gap with Villarreal needs to be closed. Atalanta, Inter and Roma are all higher-ranking Italian clubs.

The benefit of a run deep in the competition can be seen from the fact Roma (who had back-to-back European finals) are in fifth while Bayer Leverkusen (got to the UEL final) are in 11th.

Top 10 UEFA club ranking

Manchester City: 134,000 points Real Madrid: 129,000 Bayern Munich: 116,000 Liverpool: 110,000 PSG: 94,000 Roma: 93,000 Borussia Dortmund: 91,000 Inter: 89,000 Bayer Leverkusen: 83,000 Chelsea: 83,000

The 3-1 win against Real Madrid has put Milan in a much healthier position when it comes to their hopes of getting into the knockout stages.

Paulo Fonseca’s side will now play four more games against Slovan Bratislava, Crvena Zvezda, Girona and Dinamo Zagreb on Matchday 8. At present, only the Croatian outfit sit above the Diavolo, but by the time they meet, Milan will hope to be in a much better position.
