Chelsea Legends take on a Liverpool Legends XI at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
Some of the Blues’ old stars will be blowing the dust off their boots and taking to the field in a rematch of the game back in March, where the Reds emerged 2-0 winners at Anfield.
Peter Crouch, a second-half substitute for the Merseysiders, scored both goals and brought back his trademark ‘Robot’ celebration as the 6’7” striker rolled back the years.
Chelsea have a star-studded squad for this return fixture, with the likes of John Terry, Eden Hazard, and Petr Cech all involved.
Gianfranco Zola returns from golf buggy-driving duties at the recent Ryder Cup to feature, while the former Arsenal and Tottenham defender William Gallas is also named in the squad.
Claude Makelele and Marcel Desailly are also set to play a part, with more recent names including the likes of Diego Costa, Gary Cahill, and Loic Remy, who was also formerly of Queens Park Rangers.
Roberto Di Matteo, the Blues’ Champions League-winning manager back in 2012, takes charge of the side.
Chelsea Legends’ confirmed squad vs Liverpool Legends: John Terry, Eden Hazard, Katie Chapman, Gemma Davison, Joe Cole, Marcel Desailly, Petr Cech, Diego Costa, Gianfranco Zola, Carlo Cudicini, Ramires, Salomon Kalou, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Frank Sinclair, William Gallas, Jon Harley, Jody Morris, Gary Cahill.
